Cool Pics from "Look What I Made" Contest (Part II)

      Big thanks go out again to the two dozen customers who took part in Owl & Drum's first-ever "Look What I Made" contest. 

     The show-us-your-creativity competition, which ran for the month of March, saw people make wonderful items - ranging from colorful clothes and curtains, to quaint quilts and bold blankets - out of a wide variety of fabrics bought in our midtown Tulsa store. 

     Last week, we posted the first batch of pics from our entrants. Today, we are sharing the rest of the photo entries. We think you'll find them as neat as we do. 

     So, here goes . . . Enjoy (Part II)!    

     The above pictures feature items made by Kammy Pitts of Tulsa. The pillows are a Little Red Riding Hood print and the tote bag is a nesting doll print, both from Kokka.

     Kim Williams-Harris of Tulsa made this adorable, peasant-style dress for her little one. The fabric is from the collection Splendor 1920 by Bari J. for Art Gallery Fabrics.

     Lisa Swinney of Sand Springs made both of the pictured items above from innovative choices of fabrics. The e-reader case is made from Dear Stella's Buses and London from the Town & Country collection. The tooth-fairy pillow fabric is made out of Timeless Treasures' fabric called Vikings.

     Elizabeth Balloqui, a Tulsa resident who runs a children's accessories company called Teal & Co., made this "Jack & Jill" set. The fabric featured in the bow tie and the headband is Art Gallery's Celeste Pointelle. 

     Estela Greene of Tulsa whipped up this inventive wall hanging for her daughter, Luna. Estela embroidered her daughter's name on Alexander Henry's Princess Kingdom fabric.

     Made by Molly Weaver, this girl's maxi-dress features Lecien's 4 Girls, which is part of the Pitic Piticia fabric collection.

     The skirt pictured above was made by Jory Smith and is also made from Lecien's 4 Girls fabric. This whimsical design can be used for many fun fashions for girls of all ages.

     We love it - and we loved everything our great customers made during the "Look What I Made" contest!

Cool Pics From "Look What I Made" Contest (Part I)

     Wow! "Look What I Made" really was a great customer-driven contest. 

     Thanks to all the people who took the time to enter Owl & Drum's debut show-us-your-creativity competition. More than 20 of our customers made wonderful items from a wide variety of fabrics bought in our midtown Tulsa store. 

     The range of cool-looking creations - from colorful clothes and curtains, to quaint quilts and bold blankets - clearly demonstrated how talented our customers are. But we knew that already. The submitted photos just prove it!

     Today, we are excited to share some of the photo entries we received from our fun-loving customers. We think you will agree that they made some lovely, unique items. Early next week, we will post the remaining photos.

The two pictures above showcase the hair bow and bow-tie designs by Tulsa resident Elizabeth Balloqui of Teal and Co. Elizabeth used fabrics from Michael Miller and Westminster Fabrics. 

Jemellia Hilfiger of Norman made these cute mother-and-daughter dress and skirt out of Melody Miller's Ruby Star Vinyl for Kokka Fabrics. We love this fabric just as much as Jemellia - and it's been a big hit! 

Our contest winner, Whitney Ellsworth, made the above two creations. Whitney, a Tulsan, hosted a baby shower for a lucky friend and made these adorable gifts and wreath. She used Riley Blake's yellow chevron fabric and Moda Fabrics' Grow With Me in gray.

Kammy Pitts of Tulsa, who works under the brand name Kamsel, designed and created this super-cool cluster headband. Kammy is a big fan of fabrics and patterns containing mushrooms, so she simply could not resist Shroomy by Monaluna.

Anne Brockman wanted to add some flair to her kitchen, so she whipped up this fun mixer cover. This was the Tulsa resident's first time to sew curves - and it looks like she did a great job. The mixer cover was made with Joel Dewberry's Hexagons in canary yellow.

This modern, chic baby blanket was made by Jamie Catlett of Tulsa. Jamie is a seasoned quilter and she loves working with modern fabrics. Her fabric choices for this project were spot on! The solids are from Dear Stella Designs and the back is a flannel by Moda.

Moira Forbes, along with students from her daughter's French immersion class, made this French alphabet quilt. It looks magnifique! C'est tres bon! The border and binding are various shades of black and gray from lines such as Riley Black and Alexander Henry.

Sydney Meeks, a member of Tulsa's Modern Quilt Guild, was recently fixing up her sewing/craft room, so she decided she needed cute, new fabric to make some eye-catching curtains. Sydney chose Sunday Paper by Jenean Morrison for Free Spirit Fabrics - and the result looks great!

Thanks again to everyone who entered Owl & Drum's first-ever "Look What I Made" contest. We really enjoyed seeing all the inventive, colorful and cool-looking creations made by our loyal customers. Y'all are a talented bunch!

We plan on holding a second "Look What I Made" competition during the summertime. Keep an eye out for details on Owl & Drum's Facebook, Blogger.com or Instagram pages.

Owl & Drum's "Look What I Made!" Contest Until March 31

What have you made from our wide range of fabrics lately?

Well, Owl & Drum wants to know . . .

. . . and, if you show and tell us, you could win a $50 gift certificate that can be used for fabric and supplies.

Owl & Drum's first-ever "Look What I Made!" competition will be a randomly-drawn contest.

But to enter, you have to submit a photo of an item you have made from fabric bought from owlanddrum.com or from our midtown Tulsa store.

The homemade item can be a quilt, clothing, handbags, curtains, wall hangings, home accessories - or anything else that you have decided to make from Owl & Drum-bought fabric.

The contest will for run one month - starting Friday, March 1, and running until Sunday, March 31.

So, start/finish those stylish-looking fabric projects, take your best picture of your homemade item(s), and send it to us at owlanddrum@gmail.com.

People can enter more than one project for the new giveaway contest - but should only submit their best single photo of each of their projects.

When it comes to entries, our philosophy is simple: the more, the merrier! That's because we want to show off your creative skills to as many people as possible.

Please give us your name, email address, the title of your homemade fabric project, and a brief description of what you made, why and which fabric you used. Simple. That's it!

The photos of every item entered into the "Look What I Made!" competition will be shared on Owl & Drum's blog on blogger.com and we will create a cool photo gallery on our Facebook page, too.

So, even if your name isn't lucky enough to be drawn out of the hat March 31, everyone in all those far-flung galaxies in cyberspace will be able to see the nice-looking fabric fashions you have made.

And that ain't so bad, is it?
